T5W: Favorite Character Names

So this is something a little different this time. This week I am doing a Top 5 Wednesday which was started by Lainey over at gingerreadslainey and is currently being run by Samantha over at thoughtsontomes. Let’s jump right on in!
1. Perseus Jackson from The Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus series.

So I am a huge fan of Greek mythology and part of the reason I was drawn to the series was Percy’s name. This appealed to me even more because I was a huge fan of the 1981’s Clash of the Titans in which the main character is Perseus son of Zeus.
2. Draco Malfoy from The Harry Potter Series

I can’t really explain what it is about this name that I love, but I just love the way it sounds. It is powerful and demands respect which I definitely think is suitable for Draco as a character.

3. Magnus Bane from The Infernal Devices and Magnus Chase from the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series

These two get a tie, because they have the same first name. (Yes, that is my logic).

Like with Draco,  these picks are mostly just because of how they sound. They roll off the tongue gracefully, but still have a powerful sound to them. That basically it.

4. Penemuel from the Ignite series

Penemuel is an interesting name mostly because of the history and meaning behind it. Like Perseus Penemuel has a base in mythology (in this case christian mythology), as the angel who taught human’s how to write. If you read this story you can definitely see this aspect in the character.

5. Arwen from The Lord of the Rings

So of course to end this it is yet another name picked mostly because of the way it sounds. The name is beautiful and elegant, much like the character is was given to. Maybe it is mostly because I have a soft spot in my heart of Celtic sounding names, but this is definitely one of my favorites.

So there you have it, my five favorite character names. If you would like to check out the Goodreads group and see some of the others who did this, you can click HERE.

Anyway do you think I should do more of these? Let in know in the comments, and until then I’ll see you next time!

Ah, I love your picks! Magnus Bane is a brilliant name, and I never even thought of it, which sucks because I’m sure it would have made it on my list! Draco Malfoy, too. I mentioned in my post that I could include so many names from Harry Potter in my list, but I had to narrow it down to 2. HAHA.
